The Addams Family Musical Comedy!

THE ADDAMS FAMILY MUSICAL COMEDY
BIRMINGHAM HIPPODROME
2017

Hello again my lovelies!!

This week I am so excited to be talking to you about my recent trip to see The Addams Family Musical Comedy in Birmingham Hippodrome on Tuesday 6th June. Now, I wasn’t originally going to see the show in Birmingham as I had been gifted two front row seats to the Wolverhampton Grand in October from my parents for Christmas (which I am EXTREMELY grateful for!), but we found some seats for £20 each with a view of the whole stage so we thought why not! With only one week to go from booking, my excitement was through the roof!! I promise I’ll try not to spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet!!

Main Cast
Wednesday - Carrie Hope Fletcher
Mortica - Samantha Womack
Gomez - Cameron Blakely
Uncle Fester - Les Dennis
Lucas - Oliver Ormson

The day finally came!! Beth, Mia and I made our way to Birmingham, stopped off at Ed’s Diner to have some dinner then had a slow walk to the theatre. Its only takes around 10 minutes to walk to the Hippodrome from the bull ring. All the way there I was driving them crazy singing some of my favourite songs from the musical haha!! We turned the last corner and there it was, the theatre I would finally see the musical I had been obsessed with for so long! I couldn’t contain my excitement and starting squealing :’)

Walking into the theatre is one of my favourite feelings. I cant explain why, it just is. Knowing for the next 2 and half hours your going to be captivated by so many talented actors and actress’s portraying your favourite songs and characters. I just love it!! The merch was stunning. I love the ‘Crazier Than You’ t-shirt!! I didn’t buy anything other than a programme which was only £4 as I wanted to save and get a few things when I see it in Wolverhampton. You can get a special programme but I didn’t realise at the time!  Once we has drooled over the merch, we made our way through ticket and bag check, then got the lift up to the 4th floor as we were in rear upper circle (Row W, Seats 10/11/12). The view from our seat was perfect!!! We could see every inch of the stage perfectly! I then applied my Wednesday inspired lipstick and put my hair in plaits. Yes, I like Wednesday Addams. Don’t judge me.

We all know the Addams Family. Wether you’ve seen the cartoon or the films, we all know of this crazy, kooky family. In the musical, Wednesday has grown up and is in love. Yes, Wednesday Addams, in love and with a normal boy called Lucas Beineke. Wednesday arranges a dinner for The Addams’ and The Beineke’s and asks her parents for it to be a ‘normal’ night. It gets interesting I’ll tell you that! Full Disclosure. I won’t say anymore about the actually story itself, as I don’t want to spoil it, but I’m sure you’ll be able to find much more information on the actual storyline elsewhere online!

The music in this production is perfection. There isn’t a song I don’t like. My personal favourites are ‘When Your An Addams’, ‘Pulled’, ‘Full Disclosure’ and ‘Crazier Than You’. Pulled being my ultimate favourite and Carrie couldn’t have performed it any better. I had goosebumps and I nearly cried I loved it so much.I can’t get the music out of my head!!! Its so catchy and addictive. You can’t find the album on spotify, but you can purchase the original broadway cast recording from Amazon or around £10 if you wish!! Or you can go on youtube and listen to a few clips instead. Samantha Womack who portrayed Mortica was an amazing singer! When she sang ‘Just Around The Corner’ I was shocked at just how good she was. I had only ever seen her in Eastenders so this was a pleasant surprise! Full Disclosure is by far the best song by the whole cast. I have no words for how amazing this song was in person!

Finally I want to give a huge shoutout to the ensemble/swing. They were all magnificent! I actually saw a few of them in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang last year (Kathryn Barnes + Scott Paige) so I feel like I'm following along with all their new adventures. Each and every member of the ensemble/swing deserve so much more credit than they get. I cheer for you guys most!

Overall, I think the show is an absolute must see. I’ll leave the link below where you can buy tickets for all the future performances between now and November! If you are able to afford a ticket, then please give it a shot. Its so funny and surprisingly heart warming. I give the show 5 stars and I honestly can’t wait to see it again in October!

Thank you for reading!

All my Love
